What sets the work apart

Specialist Expertise

Fifteen years working specifically on watches — not general electronics, not jewellery. The expertise is focused and deep.

  • Quartz and mechanical competence
  • Vintage movement knowledge
  • Thai and imported movement experience

Assessment Before Action

No work begins without a thorough initial assessment and your agreement to the scope. The quote you receive reflects what the piece actually needs.

  • Written quote provided
  • No work without approval
  • Honest scope recommendations

Bangkok Climate Awareness

Moisture is the most common cause of quartz watch failure in Thailand. We treat seal integrity as a fundamental part of every quartz service.

  • Gasket condition assessed each visit
  • Correct specification seals used
  • Humidity-aware storage on site

Regular Communication

We update you at each significant stage, particularly for vintage work where discoveries can affect the plan. You are never left wondering.

  • Stage updates by phone or message
  • Open to questions throughout
  • No surprises on collection

Parts Sourcing Network

For vintage work, we access established supplier networks in Thailand, Japan, and Europe to locate period-appropriate components.

  • Domestic and international sourcing
  • Period-correct parts preferred
  • Alternatives discussed openly

Clear, Consistent Pricing

Service prices are published and do not shift based on the watch brand. You know the base cost before you hand anything over.

  • Published service rates
  • Parts quoted separately, upfront
  • No brand-based price inflation

Expertise

Built on fifteen years at the bench

Nirand's lead watchmaker trained in Silom before opening the Bang Rak workshop in 2009. In that time, the work has covered everyday quartz watches from across Southeast Asia through to European mechanical pieces from the mid-twentieth century. The experience is genuinely varied, which matters when a piece arrives with an unusual movement or a problem that does not fit a standard diagnosis.

Specialist watch repair is different from general electronics service. The tolerances are tighter, the components are smaller, and the consequences of a rushed job are often not visible until months later. The approach here treats that reality seriously.

15+ years specialising in watch repair
600+ pieces serviced since 2009
3 focused services, each handled in-house

What attentive service looks like

  • You are greeted with an explanation of the assessment process, not a form to sign.
  • The watchmaker examines the piece with you present if you would like to observe.
  • The quote is written and itemised — you can take it away and decide without pressure.
  • Collection comes with a verbal summary of what was done and any observations for the future.

Customer experience

A process designed around the customer

Watch repair can feel opaque. You hand over something personal, and are not entirely sure what happens next or whether the price is fair. Nirand's process is designed to address that directly — transparency at intake, honest assessment, and a clear handover at collection.

For vintage pieces, where the process can extend over several weeks, we check in at each stage and confirm any adjustments to scope before proceeding. The aim is that you feel informed, not simply updated.

Comparison

Typical repair shops vs Nirand

A practical look at where the experience tends to differ.

Typical watch repair options

  • Battery replaced without seal or gasket check
  • Price can vary based on perceived watch value
  • Vintage pieces turned away or sent to a third party
  • Limited communication during the repair period
  • Generic lubricants applied to all movement types
  • No intake documentation or condition record

The Nirand approach

  • Seal and gasket integrity checked on every quartz service
  • Fixed, published service rates — brand does not affect the price
  • Vintage work handled in-house with period-appropriate parts
  • Stage updates throughout, especially for longer jobs
  • Grade-appropriate lubricants matched to movement design era
  • Documented intake with condition photographs

What makes us different

Things you may not find elsewhere

Visible Repair Progress

For vintage pieces, we map the service stages and can share this with you on request — what has been done, what remains, and the expected timeline. Watchmaking need not be a black box.

Honest "Not Worth It" Advice

If the cost of a repair would significantly exceed the watch's realistic value, or if the piece is beyond sensible restoration, we tell you clearly. We do not take on work purely to generate revenue.

International Parts Access

Our sourcing network extends beyond Bangkok. For unusual or European vintage movements, we can source components from suppliers in Japan and Europe — something most local workshops cannot offer.
