Nirand watch workshop interior

Our story

Work done with patience, not speed

Nirand has been caring for watches in Bangkok since 2009. We do not rush, and we do not cut corners — each piece receives the attention it was made for.

About us

How Nirand came to be

Nirand opened on Charoen Krung Road in 2009, a few steps from the river and the antique traders who have long made Bang Rak one of Bangkok's most characterful districts. The founder, Khun Nirand Suwannarat, had spent the previous decade working at a watchmaker's bench in Silom before deciding to set up a quieter space where longer, more considered repairs would be possible.

The workshop takes on three kinds of work: routine quartz servicing, bracelet and strap adjustments, and the more involved task of reviving older mechanical movements. These are not separate departments — the same hands and the same tools address each piece.

Bangkok's climate presents a particular challenge for watches. Humidity finds its way into cases when seals are aged or improperly fitted. We have built our quartz service specifically around this reality, treating seal integrity as a first-order concern rather than an afterthought.

Our guiding values

  • Patience before pace

A watch that has been worn for twenty years deserves more than a twenty-minute service. We take the time the piece requires.

  • Honesty at every step

If a repair is not viable, or if the cost would outweigh the benefit, we say so. We would rather lose a job than leave a customer with unrealistic expectations.

  • Respect for the object

Many watches carry sentimental weight alongside their mechanical function. We handle them accordingly.

How we work

Standards we hold ourselves to

These are not aspirations — they are the practical steps we follow on every job, regardless of scale.

Documented Intake

Every watch is photographed and its condition noted before work begins. You receive a copy of the intake record.

Moisture Seal Protocol

Gaskets and crown seals are assessed on all quartz services. Replacements are carried out with the appropriate specification seal.

Pre-Work Assessment

We examine and quote before committing to any repair. No work proceeds without your written agreement to the scope and cost.

Grade-Appropriate Lubricants

Mechanical movements receive lubricants matched to the movement's design era and the manufacturer's specification where obtainable.

Secure Storage

Watches awaiting or undergoing service are stored in locked, dry conditions. Access is restricted to workshop staff only.

Post-Service Rate Check

Mechanical pieces are regulated and observed over 24 hours before collection. We confirm the daily rate before handing back.

Our approach

Watch repair in Bangkok — what we have learned

Bang Rak has been a trading district for well over a century, and Charoen Krung Road has seen goods of every kind pass through it. Watches are among the more personal of those goods — carried daily, inherited occasionally, and almost always connected to something the owner values beyond the object itself.

Over fifteen years of work in Bangkok, we have noticed that the watches people bring in tend to fall into two camps: the ones that have run reliably for years and are now showing small signs of age, and the ones that have sat in a drawer since a relative passed them on. Both deserve careful handling. The first requires clear-eyed assessment of what actually needs doing rather than an unnecessary full service. The second requires patience and willingness to source parts that have not been manufactured for decades.

Our reputation in the Bang Rak area has grown mainly through word of mouth — from customers who brought in a quartz watch for a battery and came back a year later with a family heirloom. We have no particular interest in being the largest workshop in the city. We are more interested in being one that customers return to with confidence.

If you are considering a repair and are unsure whether it is worth the cost or the effort, the most useful thing you can do is bring the piece in. An assessment carries no obligation and usually takes no more than thirty minutes. We will tell you honestly what we see and what options are available.
